EU and Iraq strengthen energy cooperation with energy MoU

The European Union and Iraq have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on a “strategic energy partnership”. Ferran Tarradellas Espuny, spokesman for EU Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs, hailed the accord as “an important landmark”, as it boosts the prospects for the planned Nabucco pipeline project with potential volumes of 5-10 Bcm/y of gas from Iraq.
