NORTH AMERICA - UPSTREAM ExxonMobil seals Alaskan North Slope gas deal

Exxon Mobil has signed an LNG supply deal with Alaskan utility company Fairbanks Natural Gas (FNG). It is the first time that any gas from the Alaska’s North Slope has been marketed, albeit only a very small quantity. Polar LNG, an affiliate of FNG, intends to build a liquefaction plant at Prudhoe Bay. If planning permission is given very rapidly, the project will not come onstream before 2011. Under a ten-year deal, FNG will liquefy 10 Bcf/year of gas sourced at Prudhoe Bay, and transport an average of ten truckloads a day 500 miles to the city of Fairbanks.
