Ukraine and Russia signed a new gas sales and purchase agreement in Moscow today, which, if adhered to, would end the shutdown of Gazprom-sourced supplies to Europe via Ukraine. Ukraine’s prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko flew back to Moscow today to meet her Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, after lengthy meetings between the two sides over the weekend. The two prime ministers, along with Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller and Naftogaz Ukrainy chief executive Oleh Dubyna, signed the deal this afternoon. First reports said that the two sides had signed a "10-year" deal, but there was a lack of detail about the content of the agreement.
