The estimated cost of building the Nabucco pipeline has risen by nearly 60% due to higher service and material costs, according to the project's consortium. Construction of the pipeline will now cost an estimated $12.3 billion rather than the $7.7 billion forecast in 2005. The consortium also said work on the pipeline is not expected to start in 2010.
