Iraq may develop two of its major gas fields on its own while bringing forward the planned second bidding round after only one field was awarded out of the eight that was on offer in the country’s first licensing round earlier this week (see Gas Matters Today, July 1). An Iraqi oil ministry spokesman told reporters that the central government was planning to develop the Akkas and Mansuriyah fields alone after neither was awarded in the auction on Tuesday.
