Poland and Russia agree gas supply deal

Following months of negotiations, Polish Oil and Gas (PGNiG) has finalised a contract under which it will increase its gas imports from Gazprom from about 7.8 Bcm/year last year to 10.3 Bcm/year from 2010 to 2037. This firms up an agreement reached in October. Poland, which imports about two-thirds of its gas from Russia, is attempting to diversify its gas supplies and has inked a 20-year contract with Qatargas to purchase 1 mtpa of LNG from 2014 to supply its planned 2.5 Bcm/year LNG terminal.
