Wood Group lays off 1,000 UK workers

Field services company Wood Group has cut around 1,000 jobs in the UK and another 4,000 worldwide, amid slipping revenue and profits, the company announced in its unaudited H1 results on Tuesday. The UK North Sea services leader has cut its global workforce by 13% since December, while H1 revenue and profits both dropped by 19% year on year at USD 3 billion and USD 121 million, respectively.
