Ineos unveils plan to become ‘biggest shale player in the UK’

Petchems major Ineos is set to invest GBP 640 million (USD 1 billion) into the UK as part of a plan to become the biggest player in the country's shale industry, the Swiss-headquartered company said on Thursday. Output from future fracking operations would be used, in part, to power the company's huge refinery at Grangemouth in central Scotland, Ineos said. News of the investment plans follows a series of moves that would significantly increase the company’s exposure to shale economics in both the US and the UK.
