BHP Billiton to start Trinidad and Tobago 3D seismic this year

Having signed a PSC in June last year for four deepwater blocks offshore Trinidad and Tobago, BHP Billiton will commence 3D seismic surveying later this year, with a first exploratory well targeted for 2016, in an ambitious $1 billion exploration programme. Speaking at an energy conference in Trinidad, BHP’s Trinidad and Tobago manager Vincent Pereira said: “BHP Billiton has committed to over $500 million for the first exploration phase and about a further $500 million over the optional phases.”
