Total mulling asset swap for Mahakam stake - reports

Total is discussing a possible deal to trade an overseas asset for the right to retain an operating stake in Indonesia’s Mahakam block, reports suggest. Mahakam contains Indonesia’s largest active field and its operating shares are currently split equally between Total and Japan’s INPEX. But as the 2017 expiry date of French company’s production sharing contract for the field approaches, Indonesia has proposed that state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina become the operator.
