MOL Pakistan has made its tenth discovery in the country with the Kalabagh-1A ST1 well in Karak Block, Punjab, finding gas, condensate and crude oil. The company, which is part of Hungary’s MOL group, has interests in five blocks, and has a 40% stake in Karak, the balance owned by the block operator, Mari Petroleum Company Limited. With the well spudded in March, drilling went down to 3,003 metres. Crude oil came from one formation, and two other formations produced gas and gas condensate came, at respective rates of 877 boe/day and 180 boe/day from the Samanasuk Formation in particular. Kalabagh-1A ST1 is the second discovery in the Karak block since crude was found in 2011.
