Gazprom to restart Turkmen gas imports from early next year

Moscow will restart gas imports from Turkmenistan in January 2010, following the recent nine month halt, although the volume of supply will be lower than in former agreements. Gazprom head Alexander Medvedev told journalists Russia will import up to 30 Bcm of gas, two-thirds of former import levels; Gazprom had previously contracted to buy up to 65 bcm/y up to 2028.
