摘要

After months of political wrangling representatives from Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Austria - the five transit countries of the Nabucco pipeline project – signed a long-awaited intergovernental agreement (IGA) today aimed at injecting some much needed momentum into 3,300 km pipeline. “The pipeline now has a stable legal basis, and can guarantee gas transit under equal and transparent conditions for all customers,” Reinhard Mitschek, managing director of the Nabucco pipeline consortium said. Underlying the project’s political importance, European Commission head Jose Manuel Barroso and US special envoy for Eurasian energy Richard Morningstar also attended the IGA’s signing in Ankara.
