BP sells offshore NW Java stake to Pertamina

BP has sold its 46% stake in the Offshore North West Java (ONWJ) block in Indonesia to Pertamina for $280 million. The 8,300km~2 concession, which includes 314 producing wells and 218 offshore structures, outputs around 220 MMcf/d of gas and 22,000 bbls/d of oil.BP put its share in ONWJ up for sale in February saying that it “does not fit with [our] long term strategy” (Gas Matters Today, February 26). However, today – as then – the company was keen to stress that BP remains committed to its other Indonesian interests and revealed it has agreed to work with Pertamina to jointly develop coalbed methane resources.
