Argentina to pay compensation to Shell and Kinder Morgan

Argentina has awarded Shell and Kinder Morgan a combined USD 217 million in compensation in relation to the country’s economic crisis in 2001-2002, as part of a government push to attract foreign investment. The compensation was originally awarded to BG Group - now Shell - and El Paso Energy, which is now owned by Kinder Morgan by the World Bank's International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) in 2014.
