EIA boosts estimates of US natural gas storage capacity

The US Department of Energy (DoE) said on Monday that it estimates aggregate demonstrated maximum capacity for underground natural gas storage in America at 3,889 Bcf as of April 2009, a 2.6% increase above last year’s level.Demonstrated maximum working gas storage volumes, measure the peak volume in each storage field hit during the reporting period, and may therefore understate the amount that can actually be stored, the department said.
