Gazprom exits Estonian LNG project amid sanctions

Gazprom has dropped the plan to build a 2.3 mtpa Sillamae LNG plant in northeast Estonia under pressure from international sanctions against Russia, industry sources told Gas Matters Today. The project – estimated to cost EUR 600 million – was conceived as an alternate transit route into Europe for Russian gas. Estonia already serves as an export terminal for seaborne shipments of Russian oil.
