Hungary halts gas supply to Ukraine amid accusations of Russian meddling

Hungary’s transmission system operator (TSO) FGSZ on Thursday said it had halted gas transmission to Ukraine in order to “preserve network balance”, amid accusations from Kiev that the company is acting at the behest of Gazprom. The supply to Beregovo in Ukraine from the Beregdaroc connection point in Hungary was suspended from 18:00 (16:00 GMT) local time on Thursday – cutting off about 16.8 MMcm/d of pipeline capacity usually reserved for gas flows to Ukraine.
