EIA estimates world shale gas resources at 7,299 Tcf

The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) has revised upwards its 2011 estimate of global technically recoverable shale gas which stood at 6,662 Tcf. Its new estimate is 10% higher at 7,299 Tcf. The EIA has also for the first time issued an estimate of global recoverable shale oil, at 345 billion barrels.
