AUSTRALASIA - LNG Inpex considers moving Ichthys LNG scheme to Northern Australia

Japan’s Inpex Holdings, and its joint venture partner, Total, have signed a project facilitiation agreement with the Australian Northern Territory administration to consider building the planned Ichthys LNG liquefaction plant at Middle Arm in Darwin. Inpex Managing Director Jiro Okada said in a statement today that while the preferred option for the Ichthys LNG is on the Marets Islands in the Kimberley region in Western Australia, it had to “explore all realistic options” and would be taking a “serious look at Darwin”.
