Large scale gas injection has started at CNPC’s Xiangguosi underground gas storage facility, with the system expected to provide 10 MMcm/day for winter peak shaving by December. The Xiangguosi UGS is the first such facility in the Sichuan Basin, Southwest China. It is being connected to the Zhongwei-Guiyang Gas Pipeline and the Myanmar-China Gas Pipeline, and has a designed storage capacity of 4.2 Bcm.
