Spot prices for Asia climb towards $19/MMbtu as China enters market

Spot prices for LNG to Asia climbed towards $19/MMbtu this week, data showed, as China sought cargoes while Japan and South Korea tapped the tightening spot market to replenish winter inventories. Prices rose to some $18.60/MMbtu on Friday, whilst a report this week predicted that China would see natural gas shortages every winter until the end of the decade as domestic production fails to keep up with demand.
