Kazakhstan postpones Karachaganak third stage development indefinitely

Kazakhstan, the main financial controller in the consortium developing the Karachaganak oil and gas condensate field has put the third stage of field development on hold indefinitely, though no reason was given as to why development of the third stage had been put on hold. The consortium developing the field, led by Eni and BG Group planned to launch the third stage of development in 2007, but plans were postponed in 2008 due to the financial crisis and a tax dispute with Kazakh authorities.
