East Asia - Supply Japan's Tohoku Electric inks 15-year agreement for Tangguh-sourced LNG

Tohoku Electric Power Co has signed an agreement to purchase 0.12mtpa of LNG from the BP-led Tangguh project in eastern Indonesia. In a statement, Tohoku, Japan's fourth largest utility, said that the agreement covers purchasing plans for a 15 year period, commencing in 2010, for LNG sourced from the project, which will have an initial capacity of 7.6 mtpa when it comes onstream later this year. Tangguh's volumes are currently contracted to supply the Fujian LNG receiving terminal in China, POSCO and K-Power Co in Korea, and Sempra LNG in Mexico.
