SOUTH ASIA - POWER GENERATION GAIL to create new city gas distribution subsidiary

Indian state-owned gas utility GAIL plans to set up a new subsidiary for its city gas distribution and compressed natural gas (CNG) network as part of a compliance requirement to unbundle GAIL's business structure. Dr. Choubey, chairman and managing director of GAIL told local reporters that City Gas Distribution would be “a major focus area by GAIL.” GAIL will invest around $49 million in the distribution subsidiary which will be responsible for distribution and marketing of CNG as fuel for vehicles, piped natural gas and auto liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
