Centrica increases stakes in Statfjord and Statfjord satellites

UK utility Centrica said on Monday it will increase its stake in the Statoil-operated North Sea Statfjord field to 34.3% by buying ConocoPhillips’ 15.17% interest for $223 million (￡142 million). Gas from the giant Statfjord field, which extends into UK waters is delivered to the UK market and is either committed to Centrica or is otherwise uncontracted.
