Seacore, one of Europe's largest specialist marine and offshore large diameter drilling construction and exploration drilling contractors, has won a prestigious 1.2 million pounds contract from BP to install 15 preconductor well casings in the BP operated Shah Deniz gas and condensate field in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea. The project, which started in March and was scheduled to last about three weeks, involved Seacore creating bespoke internal casing packer drives with under reaming and mud injection to put the 42-in diameter casings into the seabed. Seacore, working from the semi-submersible Istaglal in 101 m of water, used its own Teredo 10/40 hydraulic drilling rig and the Istaglal's drill floor to install the casings to a depth of some 27 m into the seabed.
