Azerbaijan and Turkey agree on gas transit terms to Europe

BOTAS, Turkey's state-owned pipeline network has finally reached a landmark transit agreement with SOCAR, the state oil company of the Azerbaijan Republic over terms for shipping Azeri gas through Turkey to Europe. The accord to allow Azerbaijani gas transits through Turkey is a milestone for the export of Caspian gas to Europe via the proposed Nabucco pipeline. Past efforts by Nabucco partners to secure firm gas supplies from Azerbaijan have stalled, mainly due to disagreement over transit terms through Turkey.
