Recently, interest in specific and potent protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP 1B) inhibitor that key regulator both in insulin and leptin signaling pathways is rising up.PTP1B is an important negative modulator in insulin signaling pathway. So it is considered as a good target for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity. To date, several types of PTP1B inhibitors have been developed. However, most of them have a problem on the side effects and low bioavailability, which facilitate investigation on natural products to find out safe and drug-like PTP1B inhibitors.
