EU divisions overshadow Commission infrastructure investment package

The recent Russia-Ukraine gas dispute has undoubedtly put European energy security and the continent's need to diversify both gas suppliers and energy sources back to the very top of the European Union's (EU) agenda. But with most European energy companies set to check their capital expenditure programmes in response to the economic downturn and ongoing tightness in the credit markets, the onus has been on the European Commission to facilitate the construction of those infrastructure projects aimed at diversifying supply.
