First discovery of Neazoniidae (Insecta,Hemiptera, Fulgoromorpha) in the EarlyCretaceous amber of Archingeay, SW France

The extinct genus and species of planthopper family Neazoniidae, Akmazeinasantonorum n. gen., n. sp., are described. This is the first record of the familyin the Lower Cretaceous French amber of Archingeay. The new genus differsfrom Neazonia Szwedo, 2007 in subtriangular vertex, wider trigons; sensorypits only in upper portion of frons, fused submedian carinae, diverging only inupper portion of frons, slightly elevated disc of pronotum, delimited by semi-circular carinae, hind tibia with distinct, knee lateral tooth. The phylogeneticrelationships of Neazoniidae and some other planthoppers families as well astheir ecological affinities are discussed.
