UK ELECTRICITY and gas regulator Ofgem has fined Npower ￡26 million for "failing to treat customers fairly" and warned the utility that it will be barred from selling its services if it fails to improve by the end of June. The fine is the Largest so far to be imposed on one of the 'Big Six' energy companies by the UK regulator. Dermot Nolan, Ofgem Chief Executive, said the penalty on Npower — which controls roughly 10 per cent of the household gas and electricity market — sent a "strong message" to the industry.
