Current Gemmology in China: A brief report by Roger Harding on the Gemmological Conference held at the University of Geosciences, Wuhan, China, on 6-7 November 1999.

The Gemmological Conference is now an annualevent and attracted participants from all over China. A total of120 people attended this two-day event and heard a wide rangeof papers covering jade, treated diamonds, inclusions, jewellerydesign, appraisal and a number of other topics. In all 19 paperswere presented and brief comments are given below.
