摘要

As has been recorded in the literature, freshwaterpearls have been cultured in China since 1167. Freshwater pearlfarming was popular in Jiangshu and Zhejiang provinces duringthe Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), but after the end of the QingDynasty, it disappeared due to social instability.
