An informed census of public greens.

The background, methods and results of a census conducted in 1986/87 and 1995 in Sesto San Giovanni, Italy , are described. The main objective of the census was to provide information on the surface of the area, position of the trees, lawns and bushes, health of vegetation, irrigation, and needs for improvements.
