We are happy to announce that since 1998, SAJG has been recognised by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI), and the Journal is indexed in all ISI products, including Current Contents and the Science Citation Index. More significantly, for 1998 SAJG had an "impact factor" of 0.727, which represents the second-highest ranking of all South African scientific journals (only the SA Medical Journal had a higher impact factor of 0.963). An impact factor of 0.727 ranks SAJG with many internationally recognised geoscience journals. The meaning and significance of impact factors are discussed below.
