Obesity, characterized by the accumulation of excess fat on the body, has become a global epidemic. Moreover, obesity is a major risk factor associated with a number of severe comorbidities including type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, coionary heart disease, stroke and certain cancers. Unfortunately, few efficacious and safe anti-obesity drugs have been developed thus far.
