Researchers presented the prototype of a defined volume pesticide sprayer, called 'DeVoPeS', which quickly performed a complete treatment on flowers. The innovation of the method involved the generation of very fine droplets to spray pesticide in a defined volume. This technique eliminated the environmental and human health concerns, while saving pesticide. The working capacity of the DeVoPeS allowed it to treat a greenhouse with an average surface of 1000 m ~2 in 6 hours, as the whole working cycle was carried on by it in 1.5 minutes for a bench surface equal to 4.5 m~2. The entire system was constructed with materials capable of working in contact with pesticide and of being periodically washed. It was observed that the DeVoPeS chamber was perfectly isolated from the outside environment due to careful design of its cover sheet and side curtains.
