The precision figures of the Standard ISO 1211:1999/IDF ID: 1996 (Roese-Gottlieb principle) for the determination of the fat content of raw sheep milk and raw goat milk were estimated through an international collaborative study with the aim of extending the scope of ISO 1211:1999/IDF ID: 1996. Six milk samples for each species were dispatched to the participating laboratories as blind duplicates. The range of fat contents for sheep milk was 4.50 to 8.50g fat/100g and for goat milk 1.50 to 5.00g fat/100g. Results from 14 out of 18 laboratories were included in the final calculation of the precision estimates. The precision estimates (g/100g) were as follows.
