摘要

Increasing numbers of children are being bom globally to parents who are overweight or obese. Strong positive associations between parental and offspring body mass index (BMI) which persist across life alongside the strong link between obesity and cardiovascular disease suggest that the rise in prevalence of parental obesity could have major implications for the cardiovascular health in adulthood of current and future generations of children. However, there have been few studies to date with sufficient intergenerational data over a long enough period of follow-up to examine associations of parental BMI with death and cardiovascular events in adult offspring.
