摘要

Neoprene or polychloroprene (CR) was the first rubber to be syntheticallyproduced and first widely used synthetic rubber. It was discovered in 1930 bychemists of Du Pont Company, USA (Ralph, 1987) and the latex was introduced intothe rubber industry in 1934. Neoprene latex is obtained from emulsion polymerizationof chloroprene (2-chloro-1,3-butadiene). The latices are aqueous colloidal dispersionsof neoprene or of copolymers of chloroprene with other co-monomers such asmethacrylic acid or 2,3-dichloro 1,3-butadiene. This article describes the importanceof neoprene latex, processing and compounding of neoprene latex as well as itsblends with natural rubber (NR) latex for latex based products manufacture.
