The French gas market

At the end of June,the Energy Regulation Commission(CRE)published its fifth annual report,covering the period 1 July 2003 to 30 June 2004.Among the highlights relating to the gas sector were its success in establishing the principle of abolishing joint participations between Total and Gaz de France in Compagnie francaise du methane(CFM)and in Gaz du Sud-Ouest(GSO).It bas also secured temporary gas release onto the market,in Southern France,for new suppliers from 1 January 2005,pending construction of the Fos 2 methane tanker terminal and the development of interconnections with Spain.This annual report is an opportunity for the CRE to present a rapidly developing French market.
