Angular distributions of a-particle emitted by well-deformed 254Es nuclei and of 7-radiation from 250Bk nuclei resulting from the a-decay of 254Es were measured in the temperature interval 10- 1000 mK by the low-temperature nuclear orientation technique. Mixing ratios of a-waves with different angular momenta were obtained for the favored a-transition in the 254Es decay. The nuclear magnetic moment of the 2S4Es nucleus was determined for the first time. For the 250Bk nucleus contributions of angular momenta 0, 1, 2 to the once-forbidden β-transition 2~- → 2~+ were obtained and the E2/MI mixing ratio for the 988-keV 7-transition was evaluated.
