Over the last 3 years, natural orifice translumenal endo scopic surgery (NOTES) has quickly emerged as one of the most hotly debated and actively researched areas in GI endoscopy. As such, it raises some interesting questions as to what the future holds for the GI trainee interested in this endeavor. This month, Dr Xavier Dray and Dr Samuel Giday provide us with their perspectives on the past, present, and future of NOTES and how it might affect the GI fellows of the future.
