Colorectal cancer is the third leading type of cancer and the third leading cause of cancer death in the United States. The incidence of colon cancer is declining in the United States, in large part because of colonoscopic polypectomy. Colonoscopy and polypectomy are prominent tools in both the diagnosis and prevention of colorectal cancer.
