Endoscopic submucosal dissection of a lower rectal polyp proximal to the dentate line by using local lidocaine injection.

Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) has demonstrated its utility for the excision of colorectal lesions. Lesions close to the dentate line can be difficult to remove endoscopically because of pain during the procedure. We present a case of a large polyp adjacent to the dentate line that was removed by means of ESD with injection of lidocaine to prevent pain during the procedure.
