Dissecting intramural hematoma of the esophagus after thrombolysis for myocardial infarction.

Dissecting intramural hematoma of the esophagus (DIHE) is uncommon and usually occurs after an episode of vomiting or as a result of direct trauma. There are only two cases reported of DIHE as a complication of thrombolysis. Unless suspected, DIHE may lead to diagnostic confusion, as illustrated by the present case.
