Endoscopic resection of the esophageal squamous cell carcinoma overlying leiomyoma

Esophageal carcinomas and submucosal tumors (SMTs) are common diseases of the esophagus. The coexistence of these lesions is classified into two types: the overlying type, in which the carcinoma covers a benign SMT, and a separate type, in which the two lesions are located separately. Many overlying esophageal squamous cell carcinomas (ESCCs) have been treated by open surgical resection.
