Adult Burkitt-like lymphoma of the colon: a case report and a review of the literature

Primary colon lymphomas are very rare tumors of the GI tract and represent 10% to 20% of GI lymphomas and 0.2% to 0.5% of all colon primary tumors. Most GI lymphomas are non-Hodgkins, and almost all are derived from B-cells. Burkitt lymphoma (BL) and Burkitt-like lymphoma (BLL) represent 15% of all GI lymphomas. Treatment of choice is mainly based on chemotherapy.A 46-year-old man presented with a 2-week history of right lower quadrant abdominal pain, progressively increasing swelling of the abdomen, constipation, and weight loss of 10 pounds. His physical examination was unremarkable except for a 10-cm mass, with mild tenderness, located approximately in the right lower quadrant.
