Offshore oil and gas developmetn in Russia's Western Arctic sector: geodynamic risks and security

The Russian Western Arctic sector is expected to become, in the shortterm, a major strategic oil and gas production and supply centre. Prirazlomnoye oil field is entering production, investment decisions are progressively made, and front-end engineering studies are under way aiming at Shtokman field development project including: field facilities, gas and condensate pipelines from subsea production system to Kola Peninsula coast, a gas liquefaction plant in Teriberka (100 km off Murmansk), and an onshore pipeline from Teriberka to Volkhov assumed to be tapped into Nord Stream pipeline.
